What type of jobs are available in the agricultural sector?

There is a variety of vacancies within the agricultural sector for which you can apply. You may find jobs in sales, marketing, research & development, purchasing, and logistics; even management positions are possible within the agricultural sector. Agrifoodcareer has it all. Work in sales or marketing as a livestock farming consultant or as an R&D specialist in the nutritional field. Here, research is strongly linked to practice. Compete as a buyer with a sharp purchasing policy or, as a manager, take the lead in the agricultural sector. Other possible management positions in the agricultural sector are: sales manager, manager or team leader.

What can you expect to earn in the agricultural sector?

In the agricultural sector, your salary will of course depend on your age, experience and education. As a starting graduate of higher professional education with a bachelor degree, you should expect to earn between €2,300 and €2,700. If you are a university graduate, i.e. you have completed an academic education and have a master's degree, you will earn between €2,400 and €2,900 per month on average. Your salary in the agricultural sector will grow annually by about € 100 to € 150 gross, provided of course that you do your job well. If you deliver an exceptional performance or receive a promotion, you will earn more. In a commercial position, for example as a buyer, the salary grades are between €2,800 and €3,200 gross per month.

Where do you work in the agricultural sector?

The agricultural sector in the Netherlands is characterised by a shift in locations producing compound feed. The eastern and southern Netherlands are currently the regions where many vacancies in the agricultural sector are available. Purchasing specialists and logistics staff are mainly employed in these areas. Sales and marketing positions are available both regionally and internationally. For research & development specialists, there are vacancies throughout the Netherlands, although the international market is on the rise. This means you can work abroad in the agricultural sector, but there are also plenty of agricultural vacancies in the Netherlands.
